Make It Your Own
As with most crochet patterns, small changes can be made to the hooded cowl to reflect your personality. The following are a few ideas for inspiration.
- Two strands of worsted weight yarn were used to crochet the hooded cowl, but a bulky weight yarn with a matching gauge can be substituted.
- Using a different color for each yarn strand will give your stitches a tweed look. The example was done with white and gray strands. Experiment with colors to get your ideal combination.
- The button used is for decorative purposes only. A bigger or smaller button can be used.
- Other embellishment ideas could be a corsage pin, two or three buttons sewn vertically down the front, or a drawstring woven around the face opening of the hood and tied at the neck.
Scrap-Busting Gift
After working on a variety of crochet projects, a basket of leftover yarn balls is inevitable. This hooded cowl pattern is perfect for using up the scraps.
