Attending a baby shower is a fun and special experience, and you can make your gift even more meaningful with a handmade card. You don't have to be a master crafter or experienced card maker to create these designs. Just use these easy step-by-step instructions to give your greeting a more personal touch.
Bird Family Card
This simple card uses basic supplies from your local craft store. It's cute and easy to make and will take you about 15 minutes.
Things You'll Need
- Blank white or ivory card
- One sheet of turquoise blue scrapbook paper
- Small heart stamp
- Red ink pad
- Scissors
- Black marker
- Photo splits or double-sided tape
What to Do
- Begin by freehand cutting a rustic bird shape. It doesn't have to be perfect, since part of the charm of this card is in its handmade appearance.
- Use your bird shape as a pattern to cut a second identical bird, which will face in the opposite direction. Set both aside.
- Cut a smaller bird shape in the same style.
- Apply photo splits or double-sided tape to the back of all three birds. Position the parent birds so they are facing each other with room for the baby bird in the middle. Place the baby bird slightly lower than the parents and in between them.
- Use the black marker to draw an eye and two legs on each bird.
- Using the heart stamp and red ink pad, make several hearts going up from the baby bird.
Baby Buggy Card
This card looks more complicated than it really is. It's actually an easy project that will take you about 15 minutes. You can make the baby buggy in pink or blue if you know the gender of the little one, or you can use a neutral color if the mom-to-be hasn't announced the gender yet.
Things You'll Need
- Plain white or ivory card
- Sheet of colored cardstock
- Paper doily
- Letter stickers
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Photo splits or double-sided tape
- Drinking glass
- Pencil
What to Do
- Place the drinking glass upside down on the colored cardstock, and use the pencil to trace around it. Cut out the circle you made.
- Starting about a third of the way down the circle, cut a notch to form the opening of the buggy.
- Cut two smaller circles to make the buggy wheels.
- Use the scissors to cut the ruffled edge off the paper doily. Place the ruffled edge in the opening of the buggy and use photo splits or double-sided tape to attach it to the left side of the card. Apply the wheels the same way.
- Use the black marker to draw lines from the buggy to the wheels, as well as a dot in the middle of each wheel.
- Use the letter stickers to spell out "Welcome Baby" on the right side of the card.
Showered with Love
This cute raindrop-themed card is perfect for any baby shower, and it's a gender-neutral choice. It's fun and simple too, and it will only take you about 15 minutes.
Things You'll Need
- One piece of green cardstock
- One piece of white cardstock
- One piece of blue cardstock
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Corner punch
- Double-sided tape
What to Do
- Fold the green cardstock to create a card that's shorter in front than in back. Cut the card to be the desired size; about six inches wide is a good choice.
- Cut a piece of white cardstock to go inside the green card and affix it to the inside of the card with double-sided tape.
- Punch the corners of the front of the card to further reveal some of the white lining.
- Cut a cloud shape out of white cardstock and affix it to the front of the card using double-sided tape.
- Cut 15 raindrop shapes out of the blue cardstock and use double-sided tape to attach them to the front of the card.
- Write "Showered with love" on the white portion of the card that shows on the front.
