Daisy Flower Crafts

There are many ways to incorporate this sweet spring and summer flower into a great craft project for your home. Remember, one of the very best ways to spruce up a room is also one of the easiest. Simply pop a small bouquet of fresh daisies into a vase or even into a tall glass, and you will instantly feel the impact of these happy little flowers in your home.

Below are a few ways to make daisy flower crafts, but first it's good to know how to press the flowers.

How to Press Daisies

Follow these simple instructions to create beautiful pressed daisies.

  1. Choose flowers that still have all or most of their petals, and be careful to snip away the stems as close to the base as possible.
  2. Place the flower face up on two sheets of paper.
  3. Cover the flower with two additional sheets of paper.
  4. Place a heavy book or flower press directly on top of the paper and flowers.
  5. Let your daisies dry for at least two weeks. Carefully remove the book or press and the paper.

Pressed Daisy Candle Holder

This simple candle holder is a great way to showcase your craftiness in an unusual way.

What You Will Need

  • Clear glass candle holder - preferably larger than votive size
  • White tissue paper, crumpled
  • Craft scissors
  • Thin white glue - Elmer's glue thinned with water works well
  • Two small paint brushes
  • Pressed daisies
  • Clear craft sealer

What to Do

  1. Paint the thinned glue onto the exterior of the candle holder.
  2. Apply a single sheet of the crumpled tissue on to the outside of the glass. Trim any tissue that hangs over the top edge.
  3. Repeat steps one and two with a second piece of crumpled tissue.
  4. Apply a small amount of the glue onto the back of your pressed flowers and arrange on the candle holder. You may need to hold each flower in place for a few seconds to make it adhere.
  5. Using your second paint brush, apply two more pieces of crumpled tissue using your sealant. Again, be sure to trim any excess tissue at the top.
  6. Dry for one to two hours.
  7. Insert a candle and enjoy.

Daisy Flower Ink Pen

This is a cute project that takes only a couple minutes, and you can even have the kids help!

What You Will Need

  • Black or blue ink pens with caps
  • Green floral tape
  • Silk daisy flowers - any color

What to Do

  1. Remove the cap on your ink pen.
  2. Trim the length of your daisy flower "stem" a couple inches shorter than your ink pen.
  3. Line up your steam with your pen. Make sure that the writing end of your pen is opposite the flower. The flower should begin where the pen ends.
  4. Start your floral tape just below the head of the flower, and adhere it to the ink pen.
  5. Work your way down the stem, wrapping the floral tape around the ink pen in a circular pattern.
  6. Even if the stem does not extend all the way down the pen, continue wrapping the pen with floral tape to achieve the desired effect. When done, smooth the end of the tape, so it does not unravel.

Note: For a fun way to display your daisy flower pens, place some glass marbles or decorative stones in a terra cotta flower pot and stick your pens ink-side down into the pot.

There are many fun ways to incorporate spring or summer flowers into your craft projects. Consider trying these projects with other beautiful flowers, like roses or sunflowers.
