When you know how to crochet a granny square, you can make numerous projects from scarves to afghans. They are very easy to make as long as you know how to chain and double crochet.
An added benefit is that granny squares can be crocheted without a gauge, making them a great beginner project.
First, you will need to chain 6.
You can change colors at this point if you wish.
One corner is made.
Change color if desired.
Repeat all the way around.
Finish the corner just like on the last round.
Now, all you need to do is to continue in this pattern until the square is as big as you like. The nice thing about knowing how to crochet a granny square is that you can make them any size and in any color combination that you please.
